Sino-American Regional Business Development and Cultural
Exchange Summit (at Chester County)

Mission: The mission of the Summit is to facilitate economic cooperation and culture exchange between two countries and in particular, between Chester County and the districts of Chongqing and Chengdu, areas of focus for China’s current economic development.  The Summit will provide a foundation for building a long lasting trade and culture exchange channel between these two regions.

Background: Chongqing is one of four special districts in China (in addition to Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin).  It hosts the third economic development zone and was granted the same status as the legendary economic development zones in Shenzhen and Shanghai. The world renowned company FOXCOM, manufacturer of iPhone, recently opened a factory in Chongqing as are many other world class companies, including over 200 of the Fortune 500 companies.

Chongqing, together with Chengdu and other regions, can provide great opportunities for businesses in Chester County to introduce their products and services.  A closer tie between the greater Philadelphia region and Chongqing and Chengdu’s districts can bring numerous and
unique opportunities.

The Summit
: The Summit invitees include key decision makers from both Chongqing and Chengdu’s governments and private companies that are relevant to Chester companies and
economy.  Additionally, all of Chester County’s businesses will be invited and encouraged to participate in the Summit to learn about the opportunities. The format of the Summit will
be developed with special emphasis on enhancing mutual understanding of the cultures and business processes, as well as facilitating business interactions and transactions.  There will also
be workshops, company showcases and company match makings.  Chester County companies and institutions in healthcare, IT, agricultural, education and others will be topics of high interest for the representatives from China.  Currently, the targeted date for the Summit is late fall 2013.
